Build guide

Radxa ZERO 3W

The recommended pocket-size build, with a PiSugar 3 battery.

Five steps, from a blank microSD card to installing OpenLolo.

Prepare the microSD card

  1. Download and open Armbian Imager on your computer.
  2. Choose Radxa ZERO 3W as the board.
  3. Choose Armbian Minimal (Debian 13) as the image.
  4. Choose your microSD card.
  5. In the first-boot settings, enter your Wi-Fi name, password and country. Set a root password and create your user.
  6. Write the image.

Insert the card into the board before you assemble the case.

Modify the PiSugar 3

You'll need a soldering iron to move the battery. It ships on the left, blocking the USB-C charging port. You need it on the right to fit the case and reach the port. Don't just fold it over: the short wires point left, and bending them sharply can break a wire or pull a solder pad off the board. Desolder the red and black wires, turn the battery over, then solder the wires back onto their original pads so they run to the right.
